For our LIVE Broadcasts your computer must have the Windows Media Player installed. This player is available for both the Windows PC and the Apple Macintosh (see specific Macintosh instructions below).
For On Demand Archive Listening your computer must have Macromedia Flash Player installed. This player is available for both the Windows PC and the Apple Macintosh
To experience the Live Web radio shows, you’ll want to use a 56k Modem, or higher. For the archived shows, it’s best to also use a 56k modem or higher, but a 28k modem will work as well.
WINDOWS 98, WINDOWS 2000, and WINDOWS XP USERS:
BigMediaUSA live broadcasts are compatible with both Windows Media Player version 9 and 10. The latest version of the Windows Media Player can be installed from the Windows Update web site. We highly recommend that you update your Windows PC with the latest operating system enhancements and security patches using the Windows Update web site utility.
Alternatively it is possible to download the Windows Media Player directly from the Microsoft web site. Visit the Windows Media Download Site to access the latest version.
For any problems connecting to World Talk Radio, kindly review this information first: Minimum technical requirements to listen to World Talk Radio:
1. 90 MHz or faster Intel Pentium processor (or equivalent CPU) 2. Windows 95, 98, 2000, or Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3 3. 128 MB RAM 4. 30 MB free space on your hard disk 5. 16-bit sound card and speakers 6. 56Kbps or faster Internet connection

Microsoft's installation help page If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, do you have the security setting at "Medium" or lower? Our audio streams do not work on systems set to high security. If you need to change your security settings, restart your computer completely before trying again.
If you memory or cache file folders are full you may experience audio streaming errors, try emptying your Temporary Internet files, and any addition files, such as the contents of the recycling bin. If you are listening in an office, is there a firewall, proxy server, in place that blocks audio streams? Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/support/faq/SUPFAQMPlayer.asp Microsoft's general help page. Look for the firewall and proxy server information.

Mac users, you need the Windows Media Player for Macs. Apple does not include a Windows Media Player on their computers, and therefore to experience the sounds and sights of World Talk Radio, you’ll need to download a free Windows Media Player from Microsoft

1. If you are using Internet Explorer 4.01 or 4.5, you may experience problems opening links to some files. To fix this, upgrade your browser to Internet Explorer 5 or download the link to your computer, and then open it with the Player.

If you install Internet Explorer 5 after you have installed the Player, you should run Windows Media Player Setup again. This will add the Windows Media plug-in to the browser so you can play Windows Media-based content that is embedded in Web pages.

You may experience problems opening links to content that uses the Microsoft Media Server (MMS) protocol. To play content that uses the MMS protocol, start the Player, and on the File menu, click Open URL, and then type the URL.

Issue acquiring licensed Windows Media files using Internet Explorer 4.5 . If you are using Internet Explorer 4.5, you may not be able to acquire licensed Windows Media files. To fix this, upgrade to Internet Explorer 5 or later.

Windows Media Player installation difficulties Some users reported problems completing the installation on Mac OS X. The most recent installer corrects these issues. To use the new installer, download the latest player.

When using a Web browser to open links to content, the Classic version of Windows Media Player (Windows Media Player 7.01 for Mac or earlier) may launch. To fix the problem, do one or more of the following:
a. If you have Mac OS 9.1 or earlier installed in your Classic environment, install Mac OS 9.2 or later in your Classic environment. b. Delete all Classic versions of Windows Media Player from all Classic environments on your computer.
